Drawing Big Breasts and Her Backside

My strokes are quick.

I drop my hand to the page + squiggle what I see. I look for shadow, draw a line then smudge charcoal or pastel w/ my finger.

I appreciate the contrast of line and smear.

With this I get to volume. I find shadow and depth.
My emotion falls out on the page. A surprise.

I want the authority of a line, my line.
It teaches me.
I learn about perception + acceptance.

Some lines are helped when you go over them. I am careful today. I back away from where it gets murky. I spend some time there then accept the incompleteness.
I delight in the folds of her body. She twitches and moves her hand, her weight as she itches her nose.

I talk to the woman next to me during break. I admire her use of newspaper to draw on. I note it to myself, I want to try this. She gives me a further tip. “The Sunday Times financial section is excellent. No pictures.”

I listen to the sound of my marks, the swish of my blending, my quick breath out as I clear the loose pastel and charcoal bits from my page.

I consider value.

My value. The value of a page.
I talk about this with the newspaper drawer. She uses newspaper because it’s inexpensive. A throw away. I’m not attracted to newspaper for this reason.

I’m drawn to it because it is graphic, common ground.

I want to explore what happens when my mark hits newspaper.

I talk about paper. This bit of what it can mean to draw on a piece of paper you throw away versus one you plan to keep.

The significance is important.
I am conscious of this when I decided to draw on heavier stock.

For me, it is correlated to accepting value of what I am doing.

My intention.
